Two Days in Venice - Itinerary

Sometimes it doesn’t always go as planned…

So I am going to be completely honest with you all – I was 100% distracted when I was in Venice. I don’t remember any good places to eat, any specific spots that you can’t miss, why you should take a gondola ride, or anything really, because my mind was elsewhere while I spent two days in Venice last summer. I was dealing with a family emergency from 4,000 miles away and I was helpless in the situation. Although I was physically in Venice, mentally I was elsewhere. And my parents encouraged me to finish out my trip before returning home to deal with things, so it was two days in Venice, then three in Rome, and one full day of travel before I was even back home. My biggest distraction when I’m dealing with things is to take photos, which is why I love it so much. I took some, but even that was a bit hard to do because of my situation. So I don’t have much to say specifically about Venice, so I hope you enjoy these photos. For a more complete guide on the city, here’s a post with the best things to do in Venice.
  • Where we stayed: The Westin Europa & Regina, Venice, Italy (and they upgraded us to a suite overlooking the GC!)
  • How long we were there: Two nights
  • Where we spent most of our time: Our hotel was a two minute walk from the Square, aka Piazza San Marco, aka St. Mark’s Square. We spent the majority of our time on this side of Venice and didn’t go too far towards the north side.
  • What would I have done differently: Of course I would have explored more, but the one thing I am bummed we didn’t get to do is to go to the nearby island of Burano because it’s the most colorful place on this planet and if you know me, you know I love colorful photography – it’s a dream come true for it.
Exploring the piazzas in Venice is a real treat! Right here was one of my favorites. While my trip to Venice didn’t go quite as planned, I still enjoyed the gorgeous architecture. On this post, I share a few tips on Venice and the things I wish I’d done differently!
It’s no secret that one of the best things to do in Venice is riding a gondola, but doing it right before sunset is even more special! #Venice #Italy #Photography

Photography of Venice: The oceanfront part of Venice is as stunning as its smaller canals, and having a drink here or trying out some of the restaurants in the area are two of the best things to do in Venice if you love people-watching!

Final recommendations: Definitely visit Venice if you can. I believe 2-3 days is sufficient to see the area. Make sure to add one additional day (your third day would be best) if you want to take a boat over to Burano to spend the day. Still kicking myself about not doing it! Ultimately, life happens, and sometimes it happens while you’re on the most dreamy vacations. I wish I could say I enjoyed Venice but I just had too much on my mind to really take advantage of this beautiful place. For the past year I said I’d never go back because I have a bad memory associated with it. But I have gotten past that and I’d like to visit it again – but mainly so I can go see Burano!
